Yeah Stew, I'd pop the wheel back off and locktite (use blue, do not use red) the screws / bolts holding the electronics under the wheel. I'm surprised the manual didn't mention it. If one backs out it will contact the flywheel and that ain't a good thing, obviously. That won't slow you down much and IMO it's important. You're getting close sir.

Done and done. I picked up a tube at OReillys and had a dickens of a time getting that flywheel bolt off. But at least it won't come off on me at 60 mph!

Glad you kept your sanity along the way.

Also did you keep a log of about how many hours you have in this rebuild?

I can't do video on my phone. Something's wonky with it. I'll take more pics though!

Not hours, but I did keep track of the days. A typical day was about 6 hours.

You have more money than I do, my friend. I have zero talent but I figured hey, I can't mess it up any more than it already is. May as well give it a shot. So now I'm up by about $5500 ($3500 if you just count the powerhead) and I only spent two weeks working on it in my spare time, plus machinist time. And my total expense was about $350 plus gasket stuff. Heck, I took enough pics you could do it too and save a ton of money!

Slight fun-pause guys. My phone died with my pics on it. I'll keep it going on Day 14 (last day!) once it's back up.

I'm sure it's just the way the pic looks but in the 1st pic on this page, it looks like the flywheel is resting on top of starter.

Haha! That's just how it looks from the angle. The starter has a cutout on that side that allows it to slip under there.

I've got to say, this is one of the best threads I have ever read on this board (or any other for that matter). I hope you give yourself a BIG pat on the back when that thing fires up and runs. You deserve it.

And whoever the gentleman was that helped you out with the cash, my hats of to you sir! One thing that is rapidly dis-appearing from our society is simple kindness. You are a top shelf individual and I am sure your kindness will be re-paid a thousand fold!
