    ethonal gas

Whats the best way to protect my motor from ethonal gas. I currently own a 96 175 FastStrike. Do I need to purchase a water separator or is marine stabil on every fillup enough protection. Is there any way to get my top end back to where it was. It seems Ive lost power with the ethonal gas. Any suggestions appreciated.

Adding a water separator would not hurt at all and keeping the Marine stabil is good too.

Check out West Marine for the Racor-Parker spin on filter with sight bowl. It would be mounted on the wall in your bilge area and the fuel line go in&out to the motor. I know you can get the 10 Micron filter but you may want to look at the 2 Micron one.

Mine doesn't run as well on ethanol enhanced gas, and I really try to stay away from it if I can. I keep marine stabil in mine, and usually have some seafoam in there as well.

You might want to consider adding the Start Tron product from Star Brite. I have seen it actually reverse the negative effects of the ethanol.

    Re: ethonal gas (Bassmeister)

It's widely publicized and available at West Marine, it is Startron enzyme fuel treatment and made by Starbrite. It's about 14bucks for 16 oz and treats 256 gal so they say. I'm scared as hell about this water being absorbed by the ethanol and have an on engine factory 10 micron filter/ separator, use Seafoam and Startron. The ethanol replaced MTBE an emission improving addative because it was said to be contaminating the water supply. So you CAN'T get away from it unless you buy av-gas, racing fuel or go all ELECTRIC..........

There is a fine line between \"FISHING\" and just standing in the boat going through the motions!!!

I found a 8oz bottle @ Wally World, the only one they had. Can't wait to try it, I've lost some power and speed with the ethanol too LJ!!

    Re: ethonal gas (fastman151)

I have experienced power loss and difficulty getting on plane. Seems worse with older enngines. I am going to try the marine Sta-Bil..I don't know which is better.
