Which are better bearings ABEC ceramic hybrid 9s or Boca ABEC orange seal 7s? Could you even tell a difference in the 2?
Which are better bearings ABEC ceramic hybrid 9s or Boca ABEC orange seal 7s? Could you even tell a difference in the 2?
i have never used the 9's but i can tell ya the boca's are awesome i dont know how you could get any smoother or better. and not sayin it just cause i have to either they are awesome.

the Boca orange seals are the best of anything for a reel just because it says abec 9 doesn't mean a thing a low quality abec 9 want spin as good as a high quality abec3 and Boca bearings are top notch

On Ebay they started selling chinese bearings with the orange seals trying to make them look like Boca's, they're junk in my opinion I speak from experience. They make a big difference, guy on this site sells the reel deal, use to be called Tritonman, might be Nitroman now.

Correct me if Im wrong but I do not believe boca produces bearings in house. I think the same bearings can be sourced from other sellers for cheaper however, without knowing for sure i wouldnt take the money, time, and peace of mind to be the guinne pig in that situation.Originally Posted by bighaida
I've had both Boca Bearings from "knock off" and directly from Boca and they were trash. They both started making a loose wobbling noise when casting and retrieve. If I ever decide to upgrade bearings I would use hedgehog instead.
I will also say this. Once upon a time, I would feel the need to put orange seals in every one of my reels. Im still on bocas email list. Anymore, unless I have a specialty need like building a bfs reel that wasnt originally designed to be one, Im sticking with good flushed stock bearings on my spools. I may do a level wind here and there but besides that...
