I am having a problem with my 2001 model Johnson 115 mod# rj115plsig 04933075. Typically, when I first crank the motor and get on plane, it runs great for about the first 5 minutes and then starts cutting out and bogging down. I can idle around for a while, and sometimes, it will go back to running normally for the rest of the day. I put the boat in the shop and the tech said he thought it was the carbs. I disagreed and told him that I thought it was something else, because the boat has been run regularly and good gas has always been put into the tank as well as stabil additive. To make the story shorter, he rebuilt the carbs, and I took it to the lake, and the same problem occurred. I ran about 3 miles down river, and the boat ran great. I stopped and fished a place for about an hour and cranked up to move. The motor was hard to crank, and when i tried to get it on plane, it cut out very bad. I took it back to the tech, and he said the thermostat housings felt hot. He changed the thermostats, but the heat stayed high even though it was peeing a good stream. He said that it could be the water pump, and he would put a gauge on the motor to check the pressure. He also checked the spark and said the motor was firing correctly. It was getting late in the day, so i left it with him. My question, is this guy on the right track now to solve this problem this time?
