    Skeeter zx190

I have a 2010 Skeeter zx190 DC w/ 150 v-max and I am having a little trouble dialing it in. The Slide Master jack plate(12" set back) has little dot indentions(indicators) on the side of the jack plate. Right now I have 4 dots showing(inside of plate 1" above outside). The center of my prop shaft is 4" below the pad of the boat. This is the setting that came from the factory. I have read alot of post that suggest that the prop shaft center should be 3" to 3.5" below the pad. Running a stock 23M prop. Right now I can run straight at a pretty good clip but when I turn I get alot of blow out or cavitation. I am no where near the 60 mph that everyone else says they run. I have lowered the motor, about an inch, which made the turning alot better. I was wondering if anyone out there with a zx190 would mind sharing their numbers so that I can get some idea where I stand. Had many boats but this is my first with a jack plate. Thanks....................

IDK about dot counts ..... since my '05 is old enough to not have the dots on the Slidemaster.

However, I can tell you that I'd start with 2 1/8" of seperation between those 2 jackplate halves ..... IDK how many dots that would be. I'm currently running like 2 3/8" of seperation (but I'm also running a TR04 right now and have not run the M-series at this height as of yet).

Just make sure you've got enough water pressure ...... which you should since I'm still pulling 20psi at WOT. And most guys are turning their Yamaha's around 5800-6000 rpm.

I could be wrong, but I believe that most Skeeters require a bit of trimming down while going into a hard corner. In your case with a adjustable jackplate you could lower that some as you go into the corner. I think doing it with the trim would be less of a hassle and leave you still set up better once out of your turn. Set your jackplate for best performance while you are running straight and adjust trim angle if blowing out in a corner.

OK just realized that you DO NOT have a hydraulic J/P. Set it up somewhere near the 3-1/2" below the pad range and start adjusting up from there. 1/4" at a time. 4" below pad is probably slowing you down some. As far as turns, trim down a tad when going into the turn.
