    Recessed Trolling motor

Have any of you guys added a recessed pedal tray to your boats? I have a 2005 ZX 225 that I am thinking about adding one to.

    Re: Recessed Trolling motor (Datdude48)

I've puy 2 in. 1 in my zx185 and 1 in my buddys 2005 zx 225. Piece of cake. Taped down the template, measured twice. Drilled a hole thru the deck in each of the 4 corners of the template and finished the cut with a sawzall. Dropped in recessed tray and screwed it down.

No cross member in either one I did. He has a MG Tour 82. I centered both on the front deck about 1 1/2 to 2 inches back from the bow panel to the front lip of the recessed tray.

You should spread some epoxy resin on the edges of the cut out to prevent water soaking into the foam.

    Re: Recessed Trolling motor (turboblue)

Looks like a good support. I have customers and even myself when I installed the first Troll Well worry about deck integrity. I had no problems and have never had an issue reported about a deck flexing after install.

Since you plan on epoxying the exposed foam you also may want to consider a wider base to distribute the load on the bottom of your support on hull. If deck is thin enough to flex I would also worry about the thickness of that hull and the narrow pressure over time from your support base pressing down.

I do have a question, do most of you screw the foot control into the recessed trasy or just leave it loose in there?
