Cracked Jack Plate

I have a 06 21I and I noticed this weekend that my jack plate is cracked on the port side starting about an inch out from the boat on top and running back down towards the boat. Has anyone else had any problems? I did not hit anything but I do fish the Potomac which can get very rough, but I know some of you all fish worse water than that and they should not crack regardless.

wow, I have never heard of that happening before!! I am assuming that if you did hit something you would notice some serious damage to the prop and lower unit.
