I loved my 115 Ficht...until it dropped a cylinder at about 800 hours. I replaced it with a 115 E-tec.
Check my post "1998 115 Johnson FICHT Faststrike Update / Moral of the Story" dated 10 Oct.
Not all 115 FICT motors are created equal, you need to post the full model number also make sure you have a Johnson dealer check it out as there seem to be some gotcha's with these motors.
Good Luck

I bought a 2000 Evinrude 115 Ficht used, and it dropped 2 cylinders in the first couple of hours I owned it. Those engines are scrap iron, and I sold it on Ebay to someone who was willing to rebuild the powerhead. My advice: DO NOT BUY IT.
Gordy
the V4 Fichts do not pose the same problems as their V6 brothers, sure, some may have trouble, but as a general rule, the 90 and 115 was a good Motor, they performed as designed from the start with no real mechanical recurring problems, so if all the usual checks are OK, then go for it!
I also have the 2000 115hp FICT engine. The BIG problem I have at this point is finding a mechanic that will work on it. I was told by my dealer as well as others in the Washington State area that they will no longer work on these engines...some odd story to do with a rift between the mechanics and the manufacturer and the type of diognostic tools needed? No I don't know the whole story, I just know that I can't find a mechanic to work on it.
any OMC/BRP dealer that will not work on them for any reason either has too much money/work, or they have no idea what they are doing, I would have thought in these tough times, almost any dealer would be dragging customers in by their necks!!
Around my area if you mention the word ficht the local dealer wont even talk to you about it, much less work on it. Luckily I haven't had any problems with my 97 150, and the questions I have about it are answered by these great 'rude experts we have here.
