I'm leaving the Lowrance family and fixing to switch out to H'bird. I want to buy a 898 c SI combo at the dash and a 798c SI for the bow. Also want to get the xm weather option. E-mailed H'bird about connections but they haven't responded yet and I really want to order everything I need soon. My question is, if I go with the new ethernet setup can I run both units off one GPS antenna, one transducer (SI), and one xm antenna? If so, what cables do I need. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not a bird man so I can't help with that BUT I can suggest calling one of our sponsors and tell them what you want, what you want to do and they should have everything in stock for a one stop shopping. The first two that come to mi d is Three Rivers Marine (Justin) and BBG Marine (Brian). Both are great and known there products very well plus you will get it a little cheaper than the big box stores.

I'm doing the similar but with 998's. I'll have SI front and back transducers with the ethernet cable. I already downloaded the new program from HB for the ethernet. One thing you will need is a dual beam tranducer (xp 9 20) to and Y cable (AS SIDB Y) to run sonar when on plane. The SI transducer will not work when on plane at speed. You'll need the dual beam shoot through the hull to have sonar on plane. Why HB doesn't include this in the package I don't know.
The GPS/XM will work with one head using the ethernet or interlink
