More help from the Guru's please

Took the boat out today, I replaced the EET. Still same problem. Runs fine when you start and run for a ways. Stopped, fished, cranked up for my next hole, and it got up on plane, went about 100 yards and lost power.

Got to scoping it out, and I lost spark on the port bank. Stabard hits all 3. After sitting for several hours, cranked up and ran like it was supposed to, so I came home.

Powerpack??? What else should I be looking for?

Did I read this somewhere before?

I didn't know they still made those. I was thinking about getting some of those E3 ones they have on TV though.
And I may run a set of NGK's, just gotta get the right ones.

Sounds like a shift switch or a charge coil to me!

What is the charge coil? Is that the same as the power pak, or part of the power pack?

I am going to check the shift switch tomorrow. I don't have those adapters to test the charge coil though.

If you can duplicate the problem again, unplug the port connector that plugs into the power pack. If the spark comes back on the bank that lost spark then the shift switch is the problem. If not the charge coils will need to be checked thoroughly.
To check the charge coils, disconnect the stbd pp connector and check ohms between the brown & brown/yellow pair and between the black and black/white pair. The resistance of each pair should be very close together. In addition, check all four leads for continuity to ground. There should be no continuity to ground.
To check the voltage output of each pair you need a peak reading voltmeter. You could check the output of each pair with a multimeter set to AC volts and verify the output is the same on each pair but the peak volt meter is a much better choice.

No its not part of the power pack, they actually send power to the power packs. There is 2 of them located on the stator. You will have to replace the stator if this is the problem.

Well I took it out today, and no problems. I messed with that cylinder switch, and tested it, and had the connectors loose from the power pack, but nothing. I left the plastic covers off though.

So either its a real intermitant problem, the neutral switch was a little sticky, or it just wasn't getting a good contact through the plugs somehow.

I did have to drop the engine 1/4 in though. I was hitting the rev limiter at WOT with my Tempest.

I did switch props too. That is the other diff for today. Ran my 25p TR04 when it was acting up.

I swear XD100 has given me a little extra performance too.

I was kidding about those E3 plugs. The NGK's though, I may still have to try a set. They do make one with the proper suppressor.
