Well its time for me to replace my livewell pump. Replaced my 500 Lph Rule with an 800 Lph and its way to loud. Has anyone ever removed theirs from the flow-rite valve? I know they screw in, but my also is sealed with some black sealant that is making this a difficult process. I'd like to know if I'm wasting my time or if it is even possible. Would appreciate any info...
Is the pump seated correctly in the housing? I replaced mine and when not seated correctly it's like the little prop is hitting the sides of the housing. As for as taking it off the valve it almost looks like it's glued.

Not hard, I took mine apart a couple of weeks ago. I placed the pump in a bench vice (not too tight) and twisted the valve. I think the black sealant is just some 3M water tight sealant. A little tough but not like it super glue. I would also suggest that you take the valve apart and look at the little rubber flappers. If need be I think Flow Rite sells a rebuild kit for the valve. Some pretty good ~$10 insurance
I do appreciate all the information... I will make sure its sitting right first, and if it I'll try again with use of vise... thanks for advice on the rebuild.
