    Diamond plate on fenders

Has anyone replaced the rivets that hold the diamond plate on the fenders with nuts and bolts. I am sick of the rattling from them. Or would you just replace the rivets? Mike

I would just drill the loose ones out and replace with aluminum rivets.

I think water gets under them no matter how tight they are. I think the back step pads are the loosest so Im going to start with them.

When you replace the rivets put a small piece of foam attachment tape between the tab and the plate to help even more.

Drill out the old ones. Use a nail set to knock them out. Replace w/Aluminum rivets. Get yourself some rubber washers or spacers. Put them between the mounting bracket and the diamond plate. That way the diamond plate doesn't touch the trailer. No rattle.

    It worked for me.

Instead of replacing rivots just put a bead of clear silicone on the underside of plate. Stops the noise.

I wouldn't put anything under there that can trap water. The previous owners of mine used silicone and now I have to replace two rotted out fenders, tops are rusted through and through. Same goes for every other area that is diamond plated..

Mines a 98' ZX210C. That will give ya an ideal how long it will last... BTW I wash my rig with fresh water everytime I get back home...
