    Clogged Injectors?

2001 250 Evinrude Ficht, about 480 hours. Just had DFI Technologies fix the EMM for the known shutdown problem (shuts down on its own, won’t crank for about 10 minutes then it’s ok) and have around 3 hours on it since that fix. Now all of a sudden it won’t start. Happened on Labor day on the last start of the day, so that was a warm start, and continues now on cold starts. Can crank all day, nothing. Mechanic can start it using starter spray. Hooked up the computer to his laptop and it says to change the injectors, which seems harsh. Is it possible the injectors are clogged? Engine has never been decarb’ed to my knowledge (and needs it).

When I bought the boat I got a computer printout of the engine history. On it, it listed the injectors and in tabular form their coefficient numbers. What are these and what do these numbers mean? I assume they are some measurement of the performance of the injectors. Four injectors had similar numbers but 2 were low. Maybe that was a sign of clogging.

Mechanic will speak with DFI technologies. He says maybe it will be a simple case of just running some Power Tune in it to clean them up.

I can't think all the injectors would go out at once, fuel pump running when you turn the key on? Have you replaced the filter? Could be H20 in the gas.

Thanks. That's what he said the computer said, replace injectors. No doubt a hard -coded response based on some parameters.

Fuel pump runs. Filter is new about 5 months old. Ran fine. Runs fine when it gets started, just that it does not start. Mechanic said there's enough voltage, which is what I thought the issue was, and still sort of do.
