ZX225 vs I Class Hull designs

I was looking at the I series yesterday at my loccal marina and considering switching from my ZX225. I see the obvious differences in the cap and when looking at the hull I noticed it look like the ZX225. Are they the same hull? Or what are the differences?

    Thank for you input gentlemen.

I just made that exact switch and it does not ride or feel like the same hull. There also is a 140lb difference in hull weights. So far I have noticed the iClass to be better in rough water with an overall smoother ride in any conditions. It also is bigger in the cockpit are to thye point its extremely roomier. The fishability is awesome as is the ZX. I like the modular type consoles better as well as the floor plates on my Iclass in the dash are. I cannot give a fair speed assessment different as both of my ZX225s had 225 engines but I know I am in the low to mid 70's with a 250 on my 20i. I love the storage and the DMS system on the iClass as well. I am very happy I made the switch as its been a true upgrade.

    Thanks for you responce Mark.

Can I assume you like the I class hull better?

How is it as far as turning corners at high speeds? Better, same, not as good?

How about the hull shot? Better, same, not as good?

    1. I like the ride better than the ZX but its not like the ZX is a bad ride if that makes sense. There is a noticeable difference.

    2. It corners and turns just as well. It seems more responsive but then again I have a 250 engine where the ZX had a 225.

    3. The holeshot is about the same to me. No noticeable difference. Top end is better but again we are talking 25 more HP too. The iClass is just a comfortable boat to ride and fish out of. Like I said its an upgrade to me.

I made the switch from a ZX to an iClass. I bought the 2009 21i. In 2009, Skeeter improved the seats. The hull changes does improve the ride in my opinion, but the seats also make a big difference. The ride is way better than any other boat I have ridden in before. No question.

Kevin, As far as the seats, I know the center seat (or lack of cushion) has a built in cooler. Does the I Class still have the storage under the seats?

Mine does not have storage under the seats with the exception of the center seat which has a cooler under it.

Mark, Does that cooler come with a cushion like the FX's do?

Mine has a seat pad for the cooler. I took it off. As for comparing it to a ZX I can say without a doubt that if my I class rode like the 2 ZX hulls I was in at the Amistad Open I would be in a different brand.

I've had both. The top cap/compartment layout and all, are exactly the same on the 07's and up. When you're fishing, you can't tell a bit of difference. The ride, however, is very noticably better on the i-class. It's a little faster, but it's also got a 250. If the money's the same, I'd take an I every time. But for a late model I, you'll spend 35-36k, when you can pick up an 07-08 zx225, for about 27k. It would depend on how much rough water you're in, to justify the extra money. The ZX does have a very good ride, but the I is great.

The consoles, dash and windshields as well as the glove box on the single consoles changed in 2009. Also the in floor cooler is now bigger and lid opens in a different direction. There are differences in those years and the 2006-2008 models.

Re: ZX225 vs I Class Hull designs (buttermilkbiscuit)

Gentlemen, Thank you all for the info. I am in a ZX225 and the hole shot and speed is why I went to Skeeter in the first place. I am not sure if I will get in a new one by the winter circut or not but, I Class it is.

I went to my local marina this past weekend and looked at the 20I and a FX. Did not get to put them on the water due to it being an hour away to the nearest lake but the 20I got my vote hands down.
