    Bringing up 200 Venom again.

    Rusty,
I have a 97 Ranger with what I thought was a 97 Venom but the tag shows 96. I had a new powerhead installed a year and a half ago.. #2 cylidner went out. Would the new PH have the updated case bolts? I printed off the info you had below on the other post. I will see what jet the #2 carb has and also the new style drain plugs.. I don't want to put another PH in anytime soon.
Thanks and keep up the good work..

Get us the model number, the tag you see with 96 may be the Emissions decal.

    Rusty,
    Her it is.
    Model: J200STLEUB
    Serial # G 04262483
Below the serial # in the lower left it has this on the tag: CE 1996

The new Power Head has this information
    OMC Decal
    RPH# NC00029172
    Engine Family: 11PXMO183210
    RPH Part # 484416
For use on 98-2001 200 and 225 HP

Sure wish we had a Jonny Guru in the area with your guys knowledge.. I am kind of suspicous that the boat may have had a Merc on it originally. A couple of weeks ago I started getting the vacuum alarm and changed the filter and it was a quick silver type in the boat. I bought the boat in Ky and the guy was different but the deal was to good to pass up.. Till a new lower unit and power head.. The new power head has been great no issues. Just want to make sure it stays that way. Are the drain plugs on the carbs the front brass ones?
Sorry so long just trying to give the details. The mechanic also left the timing off a little he said it would help the engine last longer???
    Thanks a bunch

Chad, that is a 1997 motor, the tag on the power head...the RPH means that is a replacement power head but, there is no record of that motor having any claims filed on it during its warranty period.

This is what I could find.....Sold new to a Mr. Harper on 12-20-96 in Mclear VA.

    Thanks Rusty
I take it the new PH should have the good bolts but I will check into the carb drain screws and see if I can check the jets also. Whats the deal with the #2 running lean and needing a bigger jet?
    Thanks
    Chad

Sorry, Yes, the 97 replacement power head will have the upgrades....Bolts, drain plugs and no problems with #2 main jet.

Re: Bringing up 200 Venom again. (RUSTY63)

Rusty - my 200 venom is # G04114949 a J200STLEDM a counter motor that I put a RH lower unit on. It has the 200 carbs - I was told some 200s had 225 carbs on them. My has the 2 butterfly screws instead of 3 in the 225 carbs. Any info for me - I haven't checked on the #2 carb jet yet - I assume it is on the opposite side of the #2 cylinder which is top left looking from the back? Carb - top right

Your motor was purchased by the RCM Police in Yarmouth Canada on 6-14-96.

    8-15-96 starter solenoid.
    9-17-96 temp switch port.
9-24-96 gearcase seal kit and lube voucher.5-14-97 screw.
    10-17-97 tach.

    Glad to help.

Gary, Yes on the carb, if you look at the carbs, one top carb is lower, this is #2.

It didn't show they had been replaced while the motor was in the warranty period.
