motor height on SL190, how do I lift motor ?

Hi, I read in a post (but I can't find it now Argh) how many inches my OX66 would be below pad, depending on what hole the bolts are in. I think I am about 5 1/4 inches below, bolt is in 2nd hole down of 5.

I don't see how I can attach the motor to a hoist to lift it. It only has 1 bracket near the rear of the top. I think the motor would tip forward.

Is there a bracket I could get or a method, or ???????

    Thanks

does your boat have a jackplate? if not you might want to consider having one installed, either manual, or hydraulic. then you can make adjustments easily.

No I don't have a plate yet. I thought I would try to max the set up (it's pretty good now:-) by raising from the 5.25 inch below pad, first. Before I look for a jack plate

PS, is it 3-1 now against Philly ?

I've done it the hillbilly way. Put a floor jack with a piece of wood under the skag and get it just supporting the motor. Then pull the bolt out of the top holes so the motor can slide on the transom. Then loosen the bottom bolts, use the floor jack to lower/raise the motor, reinsert the upper bolts, etc.

you need a hoist loop, it screws into the center of the flywheel, my mechanic lets me borrow his when i change jackplates ect. You screw it in and then jack it up with a comealong and a chain from a ceilin joist ect.....

in the garage, I used 2 bolts from the engine and a chain with my cherry picker, at the lake, we actually did it at the ramp one day while tuning (turned out I had it too low on the JP at first, maxed out JP and need to go higher still :) ) put a block of wood under the scag, unbolted motor, had 2 people hold motor while a third usd the trailer jack to raise the front of the boat, reinstalled bolts, put back in water. scared the hell outa me doing, but was quite easy actually.

Shaft height on my SL190 is at 3-1/2", but I also have a JP with 10" of setback.
