my 1989 Johnson GT 150 trim will only go down. No noise or any sound when I hit the up on all 3 switches. Any one know what might be wrong or have any advice on fixing it???

Most likely a relay is bad. It could be the UP solenoid not actuating at all, or it could be the DOWN solenoid not providing the ground circuit for the trim motor.
It's best to replace both as a pair since the latest factory relays are much higher quality than the early ones.
To find out for sure, swap the 2 relays and see if the problem shows up on the DOWN side.

Sounds like good advice. Not being a mechanic by nature, where would I find those relays under the cover I assume, but what would they look like and is this an easy task?
Look at the back of your motor between the heads and at the top of the exhaust housing you will see a black plastic box with a cover on it remove the two screws on either side of the box and remove it the relays are in there they look like a black ice cube. Pull them straight up to remove.
I have located them and , yes one is bad i switched them to find out. Do you know where i can order new ones? I need them soon I have a tournament next weekend.
Any autoparts store can match. I think they are standard 5 blade relays, match the amp.

Any Johnson Evinrude dealer should have them in stock - part # 586224
The ones from the automotive store are usually a smaller amperage rating and are not sealed for moisture and sparks, but some are cheaper in cost. The factory relays use silver plated contacts for less corrosion and longer life.

Are there 2 of of the same 586224 part# installed at once ? Is there one for the trim up and one for the trim down ? Or is there just one for both ? Interested in having spare(s) handy.
Yep one for up one for down.
