Trim gauge problem

I have a new 08 SX190 with a 09 150vmax with less than 25 hours. After a couple months sitting in my garage for winter, I got a chance to take it out the other day. When I trim the motor all the way down, the trim gauge will stop at the 1/4 mark on the gauge. The motor appears to trim all the way down and everything ran fine. The gauge has always worked fine before. Anyone know what could be causing the gauge to stop at the 1/4 position instead of going all the way down as it did when I got it. I thought iy could be from sitting for a couple of months.

Most likely a cracked or broken Trim sender cam. This is a common problem on Yamahas. Inexpensive part and 10 minute fix. Look for this black plastic ring on the front of your motor bracket. Will look like the part on the right in the pic.

Yeap, that's probably it.

Just replaced mine, got one from a Skeeter dealer for $10.

Thankfully, the replacement is steel, coated with vinyl. Very easy to install, just make sure you place the "dog" on the inside of the ring in the hole in the shaft, for proper alignement.
