HOLY SKEETER CHIT, I found 1!!! Got questions 06 ZX200

Found a 2006 ZX200 in PRESTINE condition but have a question concerning the motor.
Its an 06 HPDI but unlike the usual "blue and red" its a Silverish grey". It is a 2 Stroke HPDI (not a 4 stroke) but is it a bigblock???
Other than that it is EXACTLY what I've been looking for...HELP!!

I am pretty sure that is a 2.6L that is not a VMAX, it is a saltwater series, and was used on multi species boats as well. nothing wrong with it, just not 3.3L. send me the serial and model number and I'll check to be sure.

Jig's ......... on finding what you're wanting. I'm pretty sure Jason is right ...... those 'silver HPDI's' were saltwater versions ....... but the exact same motor from what I've been told. Also, if memory serves me correct, the 'silver HPDI' 200 was the 2.6L version.

It is a 2.6, but not a salt water series. There were lots of that exact boat/engine package sold in my area. A good friend has one since new, and has never had any trouble at all from it. It is a little slower out of the hole, but runs almost identically with my 3.3 Vmax hpdi. I wouldn't be scared one bit to buy one.

So is everyone in agreeance that I SHOULD buy this even though it does't have a Big Block? OR, should I wait till one comes available...this boat is great looking...tell you what here is a run down of the boat:

This boat is in excellent condition with low hours and has always been garage kept. The engine has extended warranty through 2011 and the hull has a transferable warranty.

Looks identical to "MindenSkeeter - LA" (here on the Owners gallery) but dual console.
So what do you think and what price should I offer? The ONLY thing I'm questioning is the smaller HPDI, cuz everything about the rest of the boat is georgeous!!

I cant believe there would be a 2.6L on a 06 boat? they stopped using those in 04 on all there boats unless it is a 175 or an older motor?

Better check Will and i wouldnt run anything but the Big Block as the 2.6 is slower out of the hole for sure.......

Here is the only pic that I could find of my buddies boat. He had the cover on the engine in the pic.

As I said previously....There were quite a few of the ZX200 boats packaged/sold with that engine in NE Louisiana. Reeve's marine in Bossier had quite a few on the lot when he bought this boat. We both bought our boats the same day (July of 06'), and have run them side-by-side many times. There is VERY little difference on top-end, and not a huge difference (but enough to notice) on hole shot. He's had zero trouble out of the engine. I have driven, and fished out of his, and It's a very nice rig.

He saved about $2500 buying an 06' with that engine, rather than getting what I got. I almost did the same, but really wanted a particular color, and the 3.3 liter. It was just what I wanted.

I have that 2.6l on my sl210 and it flat out runs, I can't think of any reason to shy from it because its grey, as to hole shot, mine jumps out of the water with both my 23m and 24 bravoI and runs 65 all day long, TX loaded (yes I TX an SL :) )

The one i'm looking at is EXACTLY like the one in that pic!
I KNOW I want the 3.3 so I guess I'll keep looking.

See they dont sell them like that in CA....Weird Will, must have been bought out of state or something. I did have a buddy who had the 2.6 on a 04 zx200 and it ran good on the top but struggled out of the hole and did get worse gas mileage because the motor had to work a little harder.

Things i experienced and glad i have a 3.3L to run the bigger Diameter props. Also resale is much better and thats probably why it is a good deal......

the 2.6 is ok but is a Dog when lined up with the 3.3 and you went this boate to run at havasu

if you like the boat that much then buy it and trade out motors for a 3.3. Should be alot easier to find a 200hp yamaha HPDI than the boat your looking for. You've been looking for a long time and its not like that boat won't suit you just fine until you find a good deal on a motor.

Just buy it, I have 2006 XZ200, best boat I have ever had run awesome. Hole shot is fantaztic, top end have reach 74 gps on good water
