    Control panel problem

Hey guys my Brother in Law has a 2004 ZX 225 and he has some sort of electrical problem. The power light on the control panel wont turn off, and the other switches/buttons will not work. The only way to get the bilge, lights, etc to work is by flipping the switches on the breaker panel under the console. Any ideas. I figure the panel is bad. Do you guys know where I can order one, and the approx cost? Thanks for any help.

    Re: Control panel problem (Teamskeeter2005)

this is one topic that has had quite a buzz. Truth is there was a touchpad problem in ( i believe) 2002-2005??? I own a 2003 zx200 and had the same exact issue with mine last year. You can call Skeeter and talk to Darby about your issue. If he is the original owner he may have a shot at getting a new one on Skeeter if he is not original owner as is the case with me then its a crapshoot. I cant remember who gave me this tip but for some reason it worked for my boat and I hope it works for your BIL. When all power is off on the touchpad and its time to start up...Push and hold the power key for at least ten seconds before releasing it..I was told this would reset the touchpad. Someone may come along and prove me wrong but knock on wood mine has worked flawlessly ever since

Send yazman08 an instant message, he installed the replacement dash himself and knows the problem well.
I had mine done by Skeeter dealer, who went out of business.
Lots to learn on this subject, but Jay--yazman08 know the answers.

    Good luck,
    Sandy

Thanks for the help. I am waiting on a response from Yazman. Hopefully we can get this fixed within the next 2 weeks before we leave to go to Falcon.

    Re: Control panel problem (Teamskeeter2005)

My panel on my 2004 ZX225 quit working again for me today. It wont come on. This thing has been replaced 3 times already. I sure wish someone from Skeeter would step up and get on here to help there boat owners like Basscat does. I wonder if they will want me to pay this time even though this thing has had to be replaced multiple times already.

    Re: Control panel problem (Teamskeeter2005)

Had the same problemwith my 2004 zx225. I am the original owner and got mine fixed for cost of labor at dealer. However that was after several phone calls and some heated TALKS with Skeeter. If he has to foot the whole bill and gets dealer to do the work he's looking at between $700 and $1000. Parts alone are over $500 and then depends on dealers labor rate. Do a search on here on control panel, you will see lots of post. Anyway good luck to your BIL, hope things go his way.

    Re: Control panel problem (Chris225)

Chris, did they replace yours with the rocker style last time you got it fixed? I heard they quit making the push button type right after they replaced mine, so I'm afraid mine will go out again and it took me a month to get it fixed last time.

    Re: Control panel problem (donnieo)

No they just put a newer style pushbutton control the last two times. They should atleast give me the new part and let me install it. A dash in a $40,000 bass boat should last longer than a year or two at a time.

I Just Did mine a few months ago.. Not very easy to figure out all the wiring.. it's not exactly plug-and-play.. once you get into it its not that hard though.. you can do it in a day easy, or a couple afternoons.. the new panel cost me like 250$

I never got finished pictures, but it looks ok and I haven't had any issues with it.

    Re: Control panel problem (pbmang)

I hate to tell you pbmang but my dealer has already put two of the panels in your post on my boat and both have failed. I think i saw on here that they now have a non digital panel to replace it with now. I drove up to my boat in storage today and tried holding the button for ten seconds, didn't work. Also tried disconnecting the battery with no luck.

    Re: Control panel problem (Chris225)

Yeah, that is what I have heard. I am lucky that I have a friend who can get it taken care of pretty quickly (hopefully) if this panel goes bad as well. I'm really thinking its going to be a matter of when it breaks, not if it breaks.

    Re: Control panel problem (pbmang)

Thanks for the response guys. My Brother-In-Law got lucky...well for now. He went to the dealer and they had one used but working. The only thing I could tell was wrong with it was one of the studs/bolts that hold it in the dash was messed up. It really looks brand new to me. They charged him $50.00, I put it in and it works...for now.

    Re: Control panel problem (keithbass2609)

a fix for the panels... I have had 4 different panels in my 06, They always seemed to go out in the rain, after drying out the current panel (after it screwed up in the rain) I got some clear silicone and ran a small bead around the front of the panel and also put some on the back where the connections are. Also, on my 06, there was some sort of vent in the console directly in front of the panel, I sealed that off with silicone as well and I haven't had a problem in over a year (rain, cold or shine) May be worth a try for some of you...

    Re: Control panel problem (mnlong)

I noticed at the end of last season one of the small bolts holding my panel had come loose. I don't know about other boats but there's no room at all for me to tighten the small nut as the console fiberglass leaves no access... The only way i can see to access the nut and tighten it up again is to cut away some of the fiberglass. I don't even have enough room to put the nut back on the bolt. I've got an 05' ZX225.

    Re: Control panel problem (Teamskeeter2005)

the only correct fix for this is to change over to the rocker style conversion, if not it will happen again
