Re: Water Filter (donnieo)

    Not a ZX225 ... but a TZX 190 ...... same difference

I bolted mine to the aluminum transom stiffener with 2 stainless steel bolts.

Pardon the mess, this was before I zip tied everything back up after the install.

Looking at mount from the opposite direction so you can see the exact bolt location.

Looking at it from the livewells back toward the transom, that way you can see how the filter is above the step in the transom.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Water Filter (donnieo)

I am about to undertake this project also. I have a ZX250 with a similar setup to those pictured.

So are these mounted after the fuel selector switch? I still want to be able to run port or strbd tanks separately. What kind of extra parts will we need besides the filter assembly and the bracket? Looks like there are dual fuel line inlets to the filter. Is this standard on the filter assembly?

Another question. Should I still use the Stabill for ethanol after this is installed?

    Thanks.

All you have to do is splice in your line to the engine. The line your bulb is in. There are dual inlets, just block 2 of them off. All you need is an inlet and outlet. You can still use the tank selector switch. I cant remember if the fittings came with mine or not, but your local boat dealer or Lowes will have what you need. You will need two barb fittings and two plugs, as well as hose clamps. Yes you should use a fuel stabilizer. Personally I use Seafoam and I think it does a great job, Im sure Stabil works just as good.

Any boat dealer should have them in stock. I got the yamaha kit for around $48.

    Re: Water Filter (donnieo)

I can't remember the cost but I picked mine up as a kit at West Marine. I do remember I had to buy the hose barbs and hose clamps as extras but the cut-off caps were included. I also went to Lowes to get my mounting bolts. But I think mine was somewhere around $50 all said and done.

[ edited out wrong info on my part]

Yes, still us Marine Sta-Bill, or Seafoam ...... as well as RingFree.

    Re: Water Filter (Ranger391v)

I picked up the filter assembly and the fuel barbs today. The local dealer said to install it before the bulb. I see where many are installing it after. Just wondering if it makes a big difference? Seems like you would want it before the bulb and then the bulb would draw the fuel from the selected tank to the filter then pump it to the motor if need be. I have never had to prime the motor yet (knock on wood) but would hate to find out I didn't hook this up correctly when needed later on.

    Thanks

    Re: Water Filter (Ranger391v)

Gotcha. Now gonna have to figure out a mounting location. So far it looks like it is going to have to be mounted in the middle of the lip on the back deck up against the back of the livewells. Only place where space will allow on the ZX250. I think this is where Charger has his mounted as well. Looks like it is gonna require a 3/8's drill bit. Hopefully there is enough of that lip exposed to ge tthe bolt hole in it. Otherwise may have to come up with some kind of bracket.

I'll post the pics when I am done.

I have a SX 190 and mine is placed before the bulb. No problems.

    Re: Water Filter (fishin couillon)

    Shad' ........ fishin couillon is RIGHT ! ! ! !

I just went outside, uncovered the boat, and realized I WAS WRONG !

This is how I REALLY have it.

    fuel tanks -> fuel selector -> 30m water/fuel filter -> primer bulb -> motor

I told you wrong and I'm terribly sorry for that.

    Good catch 'FC' !
