    First time Skeeter owner.

Just picked up a 2003 zx 225 w/ 225 3.1l. Wont be able to run until weather breaks. I have never driven a Skeeter or rode in one... ( couldn't pass up the deal) Would like to hear from any members who could give me any help on setting this boat up.

Assuming the previous owner had it set up halfway correctly, it's easy.

Get a cup of coffee in one hand, a doughnut in the other, and bury the throttle.

Seriously, Skeeters are easy to drive compared to some boats. I don't recommend it, but I drive a lot with my hands off the wheel, or very lightly on the wheel once I get up and running. Skeeters go where you point them.

Exactly, probably the easiest boat to drive, just sit back and enjoy the ride.

I'm a new owner of a '95 Skeeter ZX150, still de-bugging everything. I found that trimming the engine as you put it in gear and leveling off a bit distractive. Plus the front seat blocks a good portion of my view. May want to consider taking a lookout with you the first few trips!

I do not think skeeter could have made the livewell switches any more complicated or confusing. Aerator Switches fills and Recirculate Aerates. Seems backwards to me or someone F-upped the wiring. All switches set to Auto work off the timer both Aerate and Recirculate. One aerator switch is at the bow and the other is with the two recirculating switches by the driver. It all seems odd, shouldn't you add water when not moveing and aerate when underway or trailered or on hot days? I'm sure I will kill a few fish before I get it figured out.

Other than those two items, its a sweet 60 mph E-Ticket ride. With a ride like that who cares if the fish are not bitting!

Glassmaker if you need help setting it up bring it on down to raystown in the spring and we'll take care of ya. If you do a little research you going to find that around 2.5" is gonna be the ticket but i would start a little lower and work my way up till you find the sweet spot. Had a 98zx210c and run in around 2.75" my 20i at 2.5"

God grant that i may fish until my dying day and when it comes to my last cast i then most humbly pray that when in the lord safe landing net i\'m peacefully asleep that i be judged as one good enough to keep.

    I purchased a 2003 ZX 225 Yahama, after having a Stratos 285 with Evinrude 175 for 14 Yrs.
Loved the Stratos, passed it to my son. But it was time for something else.

I knew Skeeter and had partnered in them before.
Just wait till you "hit it" the first time--Yee Haw!

Great advice......Skeeter's are a "Piece of Cake" to drive....I've had 5 ZX250s and 4 21 i Class and even with 300 hp they are easy to drive. The only thing to remember is to hold on to your favorite Skeeter cap. Give it gas, trim it up and enjoy the ride. Unbelievable boats...really! I hear the FX 20 and 21s are even more unbelivable. I ordered one about three- four weeks ago...21 FX with new 250 Yam SHO. I've never had a Skeeter to chine walk and Ive had Skeeters that would run in the low 80s.
