maybe the motor has a new powerhead on it?? its definitly not a "new" model All I can say is a 175ZX with a 225 would be a beast! My buddy skeeterjim has the same year and model boat with a 175 EFI on it and that thing will scream for a 175, I've played with him in my ZX225 and it takes me a while to shake him. Also that year Skeeter you have to drive, I bet with a 225 it would really be a handful!
