I was driving to my final ProAm event of the 08/09 season this past weekend reflecting on my frist year of tournament fishing. Why I had orginally went to ProAms and what I had learned. It was great meeting quality fishermen and learning new technics. I made several new friends that would actually come up to me and talk at events. Was never stood up at the ramp by my partner of the day. It was also great fishing some new locations with people that call these places their home water. Tournament fishing has made my leasure/training fishing much more pleasureable and rewarding.
So below I have encluded the TOP TEN reasons I choose to fish Pro/Am's before buying a new boat
10: Paying non-boater fee (70% payback) just so the boater can get 100% payback (tournament director/owner 30%.)
09: Taking vacation time off to make sure I have the weekend off only for the tournament to be canceled
08: Learning how to pack your boat load of rods and tackle into 4 rods and tackle to fit in a tiny space and also being able to carry
07: Learning how to speed fish thru an area that I caught fish to an area that no one caught fish
06: Learning all about back-decking your team partner
05: Trips to the hotel Cloths Drier due to wet riding boats.
04: Sore back and neck mucles due to rough riding boats
03: Chance to fish out of many styles and manufactors boats
02: Knowing I would rather be polite than always frist at sign-in and blast off.
And the number one reason to fish PRO/AM events before buying a new bass boat
01: PROUD OWNER OF A 2009 ZX 225, skeeter owner sence june 2009
I am looking forward to the coming season that starts Nov 1 for me in the Skeeter sponsored National Bass West Circuit.
