Cann't figure out my gear ratio

I'm finnaly getting this thing to run like it should. Now I'm wondering if i have 1.71 gears in my lower unit. My tach was recently checked at the dealer its dead on.

Running a 28p 4 blade power tech TR04 77mph@5500 rmps.

According to the prop slip callculator @ gofast.com i'm running at 1% slip.
Now if I factor in that the prop has cup and add 1 more inch in pitch its at 5%.

But if i put 1.71 gears in it comes up to 13% like it should be. but I was under the assumption that I have the 1.86 gears.

I had a new LU installed BRP calls it there L2 case. But I have no Idea what this is other than the water pick-ups have plastic screens on them. And it does not feel as if it is geared any different than my old LU.

If ya turning a 28 P prop to 5500 I'm thinkin' a 1:86-1 JMHO It's an 07 m/y so I'm pretty sure its not the new case.

This is the L2 case. Available in Blue or White.
Bigger & Stronger Pinion & Gears & a pinned rear bearing carrier compared to the older L case. It also has external water intake screens which are available in various formats for issues pertaining to some boat such as "flats" boats which run their motors really high. Also 2 different gear ratios (1.71 High Speed & 1.86 Higher torque). This case was release in mid 2008. If you want more info I can post some more pics. Just let me know.

if i were you i would try a 28 raker on that boat more rpms and speed i bet.imguessing 80mph and 5800rpms.just about right.give one a try.it will be faster than the tro4.

Screens are available through any E-Tec dealer BUT if you have an L2 gearcase. I do not know if optional screens are available for your case.
