    Jack plate skid and floatation

Has anyone installed the jack plate skid plate or added the floatation to it like the guys on gamblers board? Just wondering if you get the same results on a skeeter that you get on a gambler with hole shoot, back wash and leveling out the boat while fishing?

After looking around on that board I am wanting to add some bling to the bug.

I built one for mine out of alum. It pushes the nose down faster when plaining out and it also sits down better. I have a 14" hydraulic setup and it was a little more difficult to build because of the motion but it also stopped the jackplate wash during takeoff and landing.

Got any pictures of your set up? Did you add foam to the jack plate also?

I tell ya one thing....adding a basketball inside your jackplate is NOT considered Bling!!

In all honesty, (and it'll sound like a sales pitch) but a Skeeter is designed to do the things you mentioned. It already sits level in the water, it already has a hole shot that keeps the bow from raising up so high you don't lose sight of the horizon.

What those guys are doing with a basketball, Skeeter has done with the rear sponsons.

Ditto! Skeeter Engineering has done this for you. That's why there are 30 patents in the last 3 feet of a Skeeter.

Want to add some bling add a Humminbird 1197c that will add some bling!

Basketballs are cheeper than an 1197 I am running an 89 skeeter. Seacast transom and new stringers. Mine seems to sit a little lower in the back. Might just be an 89 thing but not sure. I was thinking of hiding something in the plate just to help out an inch or 2 while fishing.

This is true, however with 4 deep cycle baterys, gas, and livwells full it does sit a little lower in the rear. The hole shot is still great but hey if I can improve it and help keep the rear of the boat up a bit all the better.

Has anyone tryed adding foam or the fancy orange bling to the jack plate and you could always cap it off with something fancy?
