    Re: Washing your boat (PhilG)

Just give it a good wash down first and then use "Bass Boat Saver" or "Bow to Stern" on your whole boat... Hull, seats, motor, trailer, wheels... everything. don't forget to use a microfiber cloth for best results.

Both products replace waxing and are designed to clean and fill the pores giving the hull a very smooth finish.

Both great products and a heck of a lot easier than a wax job with better results IMO.

Can you give me some more details on a "microfiber cloth"? Where can I buy these?

    Thanks.

    Re: Washing your boat (87gtNOS)

I wash mine mostly in the spring - fall here. Summertime is the only time i don't care about the carpet getting wet cause it only takes a day or two for it to dry. Here is a tip when washing or after a rain storm. I open all my lids up; that allows the water to run off of them and in a day they are mostly dry. The only thing left soaked is the floor. It drys on its own.

Re: Washing your boat (fishin couillon)

If mine gets soaked from rain, I open all the compartments and have a fan that I run. After a day or two, I close the compartments and 3 days MAX, it's all dried out!!!!

Re: Washing your boat (Bug Bunny)

I will usually just hose it off and wipe it down really well. I don't mind getting the carpet wet because the seals on the deck lids are still good and no water gets in the compartments. I just got some BTS stuff and have been trying it out. I have never used the Bass Boat Saver so I can't comment on it, but I have been happy with the BTS. I'm a lazy guy, and I can't stand to wax anything so it was an easy way out for me...lol

    Re: (itsakeeper14)

I suggest washing boat and applying a good coat of marine wax. Then touch it up with BBS when you pull it out of the lake. If you do this you will never have to wash unless its gets real dirty for some reason. BBS is some great stuff.

    Re: (Bass Junkie)

A quote right off the BTS website which is essentially the same type of product as BBS:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Bass Junkie &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">While many people still use automotive carnauba waxes, the fiberglass industry and boat manufacturers are increasingly recommending only gel coat sealing protectants. There are a number of valid reasons for this. While carnauba-containing waxes may be fine for vehicles, its durability and value on gel coat is very limited and in many cases is counter-productive. The problem shared by both carnauba waxes and automotive sealants has to do with the very nature of gel coats. Gel coat is naturally semi-porous, pigmented, polyester resin. Seen under a microscope, your boat's flat, smooth gel coat surface has millions of tiny pores per square inch! These pores, or holes systematically fill with microscopic grime. Carbon from exhaust, dissolved mineral, microorganisms from the water and oils from human use. It is this contamination in conjunction with photo-oxidation from sun light that promotes gel coat oxidation, staining and wear. </TD></TR></TABLE>

    Re: (SkeeterJohn)

I MIST AND WIPE THE RIG OFF WITH BBS AND IF IT IS REALLY DIRTY, I ALSO TAKE IT TO A HIGH POWER CAR WASH AND SPRAY ALL THE DIRT/SAND AND SCUM OFF THE CARPET AS WELL.
I KNOW SOME PEOPLE THINK THE HIGHPOWER WASHES WILL WRECK THE CARPET, BUT I HAVE BEEN DOING IT SINCE I BOUGHT THE BOAT IN 1999 AND IT STILL LOOKS LIKE NEW AND IT HASN'T COME LOSE ANYWHERE

Wash mine with soap and water (not dishsoap, it'll strip the wax) then I use good ole wax... Meguiars FlagShip Premium. I've tried BBS and BTS... I'll stick to Meguiars thank you very much.....it doesn't wash away when it gets wet.

    Re: (-BjBnet-)

Anyone ever try wet drier sheets to remove scum lines i read in a magazine that old drier sheets soaked in water removes scums lines i tried a small part of my hull and it worked great but is this bad for the gel coat i did not want to do the whole boat till i know its ok for the boat. but honeslty it removed the scum without even rubbing hard. My wife has a whole bag of old sheets ready to go for me. This tip was in a bass magazine cant recall the name though.

    Re: (MUSKIE08)

I wiped my new ride down with BBS as soon as she came home. Even did all the motor. Lake residue just wipes away with no build up. Go over her with BBS about every 2-3 weeks and man does she shine. When you order BBS they are really quick on the delivery.
