    ***Confused!!! Please Help!***

Long story short. Spoke with a Skeeter Dealer in regards to new boats yesterday and he was talking about the 2008 demo i boats he has in the mid 40's range. I told him that there are numerous 2008 20 and 21i rigs out there that can be had for the 36 to 41k range. That is when he stated that with his rigs you would be the original owner and get full warranty. So what would be the difference in buying a Skeeter that has already been titled and you are considered the second owner???

So than the Skeeter Real Money issue came up and he stated that it would effect your Real Money winnings as well for not being the original owner. I know Ranger does this with some of there bonus money, but could not find anything on the Skeeter web sight to back up what he said. It just says must be a registered owner of a Skeeter / Yamaha and depending on year and HP decides the payout.

Someone clear this up as if this guy is this clueless and blowing smoke up my A$$ to justify another 6 to 9k for a rig I will make sure to pass on him. Thanks!

engine warranty starts when you buy the boat and the dealer sends in the card so if it was his demo and never registered then the engine stuff would start when you buy it. i havent done Real Money is 2 years so i cant answer that question but i thought it didnt matter which owner you were. unless your planning on winning a bunch of big tournaments out of the boat it would be hard to justify 10K. its too early for me to interpret this http://www.skeeterboats.com/events/real_money/

Blowing smoke. If you get a pro/team used boat you will be the first titled owner. Same for the warranties. You are on the same level as I udnerstand it of real money anyone else would be in a 2008 250hpdi so there is no loss there. I beleive the bonus diminishes each year older the boat gets. Your dealer is just trying to sell you...I would walk or call him and give him the facts and see what he says. Then again I could be wrong too

I looked at the same issues and I couldnt justify paying almost 10k extra for the shot at more real money etc when I a so far from most of the tournaments. My 06 had 23 ir so hrs on it when I got it. And I only paid 29,9.

    Fire sale I think

This is not ture on all Team boats, I just got a team boat that was titled to someone and now I'm the 2nd owner and I can only get the hull covered for 10yrs, it would be life time if I was the 1st owner, also as a 2nd owner there is ALOT of other things that will not be cover under warrnaty.

Trust me I know I just went though this with Skeeter, if your thinking of having the boat for along time it maybe worth the extra, or find a boate that was NEVER Titled and save some money

The person I got my boat from is a stand up guy and has helped me out on some things and seems to be there for me but that may not be the case with all

    Just my 2 cents worth

OH as for the real money it goes by the yr of the boat or when it was 1st sold

I bet Jason Hale could clear this stuff up. I thought you'd get the remainder of the 3 year warranty and the rest of the engine warranty as well. But I'm sure not sure!!!!

Re: ***Confused!!! Please Help!*** (SX 180)

Dealer demo=Skeeter discounts the boat to the dealer. Dealer uses it for demo rides. Boat sales as new with discount being passed to buyer. All warranties go the the buyer. Date of sale is in-service date for warranties on motor and hull. Lifetime hull warranty to buyer and 3 year warranty on factory installed electronics.

Team boat= Boat was purchased by TEAM member and registered. Boat is now considered a used boat. Date of sale to TEAM member is in-service date for warranty. Buyer gets remainder of engine warranty, 10 years from in-service date on hull warranty and only the 1 year warranty from in-service date on electronics.

Based on the numbers given in the original post, the difference between retail price and demo price is discount. The difference between retail price and TEAM member selling price is depreciation.

I was told all components on a used sale are no longer covered. This includes all electronics.

That is probably correct after thinking it over. I don't know that Lowrance's warranty transfers. At any rate, even if it did you'd at best have a 90 days or so on a Team boat since it's likely it was kept at least 6-9 months before being sold. Any boat sold after 1 year of ownership would obviously have no warranty transferring on components.

So I am still not seeing the justification in the extra $$$ for a new vs demo or demo vs used. Biggest warranty one should be considered about is the hull and motor. So the hull would be 10 years to the 2nd owner and motor would be remander of whatever. I don't plan on keeping any rig I get more than a couple years at most to be honest.

Each person looks at that situation and makes their own choice. Some would opt for full warranties for the piece of mind. That option comes at a price. The difference in a 1 year old used TEAM boat and the new demo is that price. There are other reasons that a person would choose new over used but if I go into all of that it'll be called "salesmanship". I'll leave that to your dealer.

Sounds like you know which way you want to go.

I am one of the few that really finds peace of mind in the warranty. I'm looking to upgrade in a year and a half. Sure hope I can convince myself to buy a team or demo boat!!!!!!

Re: ***Confused!!! Please Help!*** (SX 180)

Demo Boats are treated just like new as far as warranty. Hull, Engine and Accessory.

Team Boats like mine will have a Hull Warranty 10 Years from the date I purchased, remaining Engine Warranty many time guys purchase during boat show specials and get the extended warranty like mine will have over 5 more years on the engine, Electronics some manufacturers offer extended warranty that can be purchased by the second owner. I think there is still 1 year left on gauges, seats, etc installed at the factory for a total of 2 year warranty from orginal sales date.

It matters when the team boat was orginally sold. I purchase mine in January to benefit my state property tax and sell prior to year end. so many times the boat is less than year old when sold like 9 months-10 months. That's more warranty than a July purchased model.

So it becomes your decision on how much warranty and how much you want to save on someone breaking the boat in? It can be thousands of dollars.

You can also purchase third party warranties on many used boats that are still under factory warranty and get full coverage benefits.

Only thing I would reccomend is having an authorized dealer do a check over of all the electronics before you buy the boat. That way at least you know its all up to snuff and you dont have to worry about that warranty. I would require that in the contract, I knew about the glitches with mine when I bought it and they are covered because my whole rig has to go back but thats a hull issue.

if you buy a team boat just make sure it was taken care of some guys treat them great others dont take care of them that well and run the crap out of them so just check it out before you buy it but if your planing on moving it sooner than later save the 10 grand

    Re: ***Confused!!! Please Help!*** (gotmy5)

Everyone thanks for the info I have recieved both in the open and via IM's to help me out. Just goes to show what kind of guys the Skeeter Family is. So hopefully if all goes well I be running a new or like new Skeeter for next year. So guess I would be pimping my fish from the front deck of the Skeeter instead of the current Ranger. Thanks to all and I will keep you posted.

    Re: ***Confused!!! Please Help!*** (perfection)

Sorry I haven't chimed in on this guys, we are closed on Mondays from Sept. until January. We all need a 2 day weekend sometime. Your questions of warranty have been answered, like stated, it is up to you which way you want to go. I hope your local dealer will take care of you. As for the Real Money, it doesn't matter if you are the 1st owner or the 101st owner of the boat as long as it is a Skeeter with a Yamaha and you are registered with Skeeter in the Real Money program that runs from Jan. 1 - Dec. 31st of each year and yes you do have to sign up each year. We have a couple of guys that win early in the year that forgot to sign up again.
Let me know if I can answer any other questions, or if we may have anything you are interested in.
