    New motor, Old boat

Hey guys, need a little info. I have a 2000 ZX202, with a brand new 2008 225 series 2 with a 27 ti prop. I kenw it would be a little slower out of the hole, but question is: When i am getting out of the hole, just before it gets on plane, it sounds like it is blowing out. What is the cause? I have not moved the plate at all from where it was with the 200 hp that was on it. Yesterday was the first time I really got down on it after the breakin period and really noticed it.

Sounds like your motor is too high.

Sounds like blowing out, or is actually blowing out? Where you running the 27T1 on the other motor? Is the new motor mounted in the same location on the JP?

Hey Ken. Welcome to BBC. Glad to see another Tallulah Bass Club member on here. What is your water pressure at WOT?

Hey Kreig! What's up? I wish I could answer your question, but that is one of my gauges that is not working but I will be repairing as soon as I get a new one. I had talked to several people, including a guy at the prop shop in Jackson, Ms., along with the mechanic that put the motor on the boat for me and both said they felt sure that the 27TI would work on that motor. That being said, I still can't open it up yet, because I have not went all the way thru the break-in period. They did however tell me to get it out of the hole as soon as possible, then back of the throttle and vary my speed. If I let off when it starts to, (blow-out), just before getting on pad, then get back in it, it then takes off like a (skeeter) scolded dog.

I had a 200hp 3.1L on before with a 25 m on it. Jack plate has not been moved.

Re: New motor, Old boat (DavidnTex)

Hey David, I have a buddy in the club that has a 225 on a zx225 that said his is doing fine and that it has picked up 4-5 mph without any problems. He may have his motor set either higher or lower than mine though. Thanks for the response guys. I was just trying to element some trouble shooting. Feel free to keep up the ideas. Will try different positions on JP and let ya'll know....

When you find out your water pressure at WOT then you will know if you need to come up or down on the motor. Your prop could be in turbulent water behind the boat and need to raise or lower the motor. I went through the same thing with mine. It would blow out right before plane when I was setting mine up but, I had 20# of water pressure at WOT. I kept raising the motor till I got the best performance and 15# of water pressure and the blow out went away.
