    If you had to choose...

    ...between a:
New 2007 Skeeter SX 190 w/150 Yamaha and,
    a used 2004 TZX 200 w/200 Yamaha...which would it be and why?

    Additional info you'll need:
Both boats available from the same dealer.
The used TZX is reported to be very clean (I've only seen pics so far)
    Same price for either boat.

My heart says go with larger used boat...it will be better suited to my tournament fishing. But the long warranty and additional Skeeter Real Money that's available with the new boat, not to mention all the Federation Nation incentives, really have me scratching my head about the SX.

Your opinions, as bonafied bug owners, will really help.

    Thanks!

Wow, what a choice. I would probably go with the the 200. If you fish smaller water and win all the time, I would go with the 190. I would try to get the price down on the 200.

I agree with Blanked... Go with the 200 but get the price lower.... Think of it this way. The new boat depreciation is already gone fromthe used one. ITs a better investment and will hold value longer....

+1 And I think you'll find the TZX series has a few more additional features that make it a better option (in my opinion).

Any chance the TZX200 has the Extended warranty on the motor? if it did then there would be no doubt in my mind on which one I would go for. But even if it doesnt I would still have to put some serious thought into the 200. I own a SX190, love the boat, not a thing wrong with it, but I would really love to step up to a 200 or 225. I can guarantee you that 6 months from now if you get the 190 you will be wishing you would of stepped on up to the 200. Also, I am assuming the 190 has the carbed VMax and the 200 is a HPDI, if so the 200 will get better fuel mileage which is important right now with $4 a gallon gas!

Re: If you had to choose... (Skeeter Jay)

If I couldn't get a warranty on the 200, I'd get the SX190. I have an SX180 and would love to step up but LOVE that for 2 more years, if anything goes wrong, all I gotta do is call the dealer!!!! Just my 2 cents!!!

Tough choice. I would probably go with the bigger boat if I were in your position. The 200 probably has better options than the SX too.

TZX200, more options, faster, bigger engine, more room but both boats are great. They're SKEETERS and you can't go wrong when you own a bug.

Re: If you had to choose... (blackknife)

I was faced recently with a similar choice... I wanted to replace my '97 SS90, didn't want to finance anything, and had a choice (within my price range) for a NEW Stratos 186XT w/115 Yamaha, or a gently used 2004 SX190 w/Yamaha 150 Vmax.

Even with the trade-in on the SS90, the Stratos would still be 6 grand more than the Skeeter.

I had my mechanic go over the Skeeter with a fine tooth comb and he gave it the unconditional go-ahead. Since I was already experienced with Skeeter, and did a cost vs. risk comparison, I went with the Skeeter. Sold the SS90 privately for more than the dealer offered, and my cash out-of-pocket on the clean SX190 was less than 10K.

And the Skeeter came with a Lowrance 520c GPS/fish finder. I'm loving the SX190.

Even without warranties, if the boat checks out okay by a good mechanic and the price differential is right, go with the good-condition used and save the depreciation cost, not to mention interest charges if any for the financing.

Just MHO. Your mileage may vary.
