    Tach Setting

Could someone look to see what the tach settings are for a F150 on the SL190. For some reason mine is reading about 1000 RPMs too high.

    Re: Tach Setting (ropatz)

I doubt that the tach setting has changed, but it is worth a look. I've seen tachs vary, including mine. I believe your F150 manual has the tach settings.

    Re: Tach Setting (PSM207)

I'm incorrect, the manual does not list the settings for the analog tach.

there is a tini hole at the top of the tach (back side) insert a presision flat blade screw driver into it and adjust, get a tinytach.com unit for 35 bucks dial it in, my tach was off about 600 rpm

According to the website you wrap a small coaxial wire from the tinytach around a spark plug wire.

I like the tiny tach idea, but I have an oscilloscope on hand. Next time I take it out on the water I'll wrap a wire around a spark plug wire and take a frequency reading with it, and adjust the tach accordingly.

    Thank you,

    Re: Tach Setting (ropatz)

The F150 has 2 coils, which fire on 2 cylinders simultaneously. One of the cylinders is at TDC compression, while the other is BDC exhaust. You'll have twice as many pulses due to this, so calculate rpm accordingly.
