    Prop Hub Size?

I recently picked up a Renegade 4 blade (part # 175738) for my '97 175 Intruder---according to the specs, the prop should fit the V6 gearcase (which my 175 is/has). However, the hub of the prop has approx 1/4" of clearance around where it meets the gearcase; is this 'normal' for this style of prop?

The diameter of the old prop is 14.5" while the new Renegade is a 13.5"--that shouldn't matter concerning the hub size, should it?

If you used the correct thrust washer, then it is. They run a plastic ring that slips inside the gearcase as a blowout ring...

Re: Prop Hub Size? (GE Blazer)

Run it the hub is smaller than a raker, If it blows out coming on plane or dosen't perform the way it should then spend the 8-9 $$ for the plastic weedring it will make a difference. The gade won't usually run as strong on top end as the raker but usually will give ya more stability :ie chine walk and help the hole shot if ya running heavy like I do! JMHO

    Welcome to the BBC.

Yes, this normal, you will need a blow out ring.
