    Opinions on boat lengths?

As you all know, I've been searching for a ZX or TZX 200. During my search I've passed up countless ZX225's in my price range ($20K-$27K). I'm set on a 19 foot boat, BUT there is a couple of the 225's I keep looking at (on the web) that match my criteria only they're bigger.
I know the ride would be "better", but how is fishing with a 20 footer compared to that of a 19? And what is the speed of those 225's with a HPDI 225? Am I stupid for holding out for the 19 footer?
Just needing your help here, guys and gals!

If it's not an issue of storage, go with the bigger boat in your price range. you won't regret it. To many advantages to the bigger boat, and not that much difference in trying to put it in skinnier waters. My .02 cents

If it fits your storage & travel style go for the ZX 225. Like you said more used ZX 225's are out there. And I'd think that they are being replaced with new ZX 225. Great Boat. Do it and don't be boatless anymore. My 2 1/2 cents worth.

Yes. Sorry but you asked. If not limited by storage, or local length, or horsepower limits, you will be glad you got the 225. I went from a 01 ZX200, to a 06 ZX225 and I couldn't believe the difference in ride and performance. Fishability is fantastic in the 225. I think I will soon be going to a ZX250, I hope I don't regret it.

It's actually only 8" more length & 2" wider beam than a ZX200. I don't think it drafts any deeper at all. The engines weigh the same too. If the ZX225 would fit my budget....I would probably just go that way. The ice chest in the floor, and making for a shorter step down from the front deck is nice too. JMHO

Oh yeah...And you can expect a 3-5mph increase in speed, depending on the boats in my experience.

i went from a 01 ZX225 to a 07 ZX200, believe me i like the bigger boat , its only like 6 inches more, BUT im tellin its like a foot differance, you wouldnt think it makes a differance, but after ya fished in both youll know then ,you got more storage, more deck room and faster too boot with the xtra 25 horses, only reason i traded down is cause the 19fter fit my budget, an thats the only reason !, i miss my ole boat in some ways , it was a decent runnin one at that mine ran 75.2 gps by myself and all stock (ox66) with T-1 27 p

Will, As far as the bigger boat goes, your looking at 2" in the beam ,an 9" in overall length. I have ran most of Skeeters boats from the 22footer's all the way down to the 170's an belive me, you will be more than happy with a 225. The 225 is one of the best all-around boats I have ever fished out of. the pluses out rank the negative's as far as the bigger boat goes, the deck's, storage, cockpit area, an the ability to carry longer rod's, for me is a no brainer. An you've got a boat that will run in the low 70's with a Tournament load. Hope the info might help an If I can assist you with any questions i will do my best to help.

Re: Opinions on boat lengths? (Obiggen)

I appreciate everyone's comments. I hear what you're saying, too. I had a 15 1/2 foot astro first then went to the ZX 190. I've always wanted the 200 cuz I think its the all around "best boat". Being boatless now for over a year is crazy! I thought I'ld find a 200 in no time but I'm still searching. I was asking of the 225's cuz there are deals on 2003-2005's everywhere and it got me to thinking. I fished out of a larger FX a couple weeks ago and the thing was HUGE! I felt it was too big. I dunno, I still feel I'll wait it out and someone will eventually put the "right one" up for sale. Until then bear with me in my quest...Thanks to everyone!

I had a ZX185c before going to the ZX225. Boat is a lot faster and I can fish anything in it that I could in the other. Draft by the book is 16". You can get through a lot shallower than that though.

Re: Opinions on boat lengths? (Jigsisme)

I agree with Skeeterman as I had a ZX185c before going to the ZX225 and I absolutely love the ZX225 as the ride in rough water is better, not to mention the speed gain that I have going from a 150 to a 225 outboard. The ZX185c was a great boat but I certainly can tell the difference with the ZX225. They are both Skeeter's, so I believe that you can't go wrong with either.
