    Bow Panel Replacement

i bought a 2003 TR21 and the bow panel trim is in very bad shape and needs to be replaced. I would like to get a blank panel, so that i can relocate switches, tm plug, and mount larger electronics. Does anyone know where i can get one?

You will have to make one yourself, no company manufactures a "blank panel" for the bow.

You can buy the black bow panel from C&O marine, and then make your own piece to fit inside of it. I used 3/16" black plexy glass to make mine. It turned out pretty decent.

What did you use to cut the plexiglass? I really want to do this to mine.

    I used a band saw.

This ^^^. I used a dremel tool to cut out the small holes for the switches and trolling motor plug.

More installation questions...The panel is screwed to the black shroud from the back side of the panel. Did you just drill blind holes (holes that don't go all the way through) in the backside of the plexi and use some short self tapping screws to connect it to the black shroud? If so, do those holes show through the black plexiglass? I've never dealt with black plexi before....I usually use clear and paint the back side black. But, my way of doing it...the holes and screws coming from the back side would show through.

In all honesty a piece of 1/8" aluminum painted black would be the best bet. The Plexiglass works, but gets scratched quickly, and is hard to work with. I broke 2 of them before I finally got this one made. Lol. But it will work if you're very careful. My entire bow panel is now only held in by those two screws. I aligned the plexiglass, and the bow panel, and drilled a hole through the plexiglass, and into the fiberglass of the boat. I believe the original mounting holes for the bow panel lined up just fine. The reason I drilled the holes out, was because the original holes were stripped out. So I drilled them a little bit bigger, and used bigger screws to hold everything in place. I used some decorative screw washers to apply a little bit more clamping force on the plexiglass. It's really not that hard to do. Clear as mud right. Haha.

Very clear...I follow you and see one of the 2 screws you are talking about to the left of your TM Plug. That's not a bad idea and I actually like the thought of 2 screws to pull to remove the whole panel. I'm about tired of pulling all 6 screws to get in there.

Was just wondering how you connected the black plexiglass to what I call the shroud (what you call the bow panel). You gave a great answer. Thanks and this is why I like this site....I would have never thought of doing it like you did...thanks for sharing!

Not a problem. Glad I could help. Yes it is so much nicer this way. The 2 screws suck the plexiglass down, which in turn holds the shroud down. It works perfectly. And when you have to go dig around in there, you have just 2 screws to undo. But I still think an 1/8" piece of aluminum would be the absolute best bet. Then you could buy some plastidip, and coat the aluminum piece. It would be super strong, and easier to make. And you could repaint it what ever color you want, whenever you wanted.
