I was thinking of doing something similar on my 797. Any tips would be very helpful.

My 496 turned out great. Thx toc. You can never have enough room. It's so big you have to put a light in it.

Well I got it almost done. Just need to carpet it tonight.
This is what I did for mine. Took off the windshield and then took off the Black cover that the glove box is in.
Took off the glove box. Alittle bit of a chore but if you take your time you can get the glue to let go and it comes off.
Cut a piece of 1/4" plywood to fit where the glove box was.(You can make your pattern from your windshield).
Then just fiber glass the piece of wood in. Carpet it and put the cowling back on..Should take about a day to complete...

Not really that hard to do...
    Pictures are.
    1 Start.
2.Glove Box taken off. I tried to do it a little different first and didn't like how it looked.
    3. Pattern.
    4. Before the new panel was put in.
    5. Panel Glassed in.
    6. Cover put back on.
    7. Showing how much room there is.
    8. Will carpet and install LED light tonight.
Total cost to do it was about $30... Depends if you have the stuff laying around....

Your going to love the room you got now. Way to go taking on the challenge yourself.
