Creating an extra storage compartment on a DC ZX225

If you look at the left side of this picture of a SC ZX225 you'll notice the rectangular storage door that I believe opens on the side of the seat? Can a SC ZX225 owner verify this does/doesn't open?



I have a similiar rectangular door on my DC ZX225, has anyone modified this to open like the SC model does? I'm guessing it's just wasted space behind there?

Although i don't have this model boat but a SX190, i have that same area also. Now for mine, it's not a storage. Just a place that the rods can lay down on when stored in the holder. Basically under the carpet is fiberglass and inside the hull, it's wide open wasted space. Sure would be nice if it would be storage.

I'm not aware of any new models that it opens on. Seems like it did many moons ago but now it's just a passenger rod shelf.

I have all the skeeter catalogs from 2000-present and the 2002 model had storage doors that opened there for both dual & single model ZX series

I found some pics of a 2002 ZX225 with storage door

Can we get a 2002 ZX250 or 225 owner to take a picture of the storage lid and the size of the compartment inside? I think this could be modified for newer ZX owners...

Not a ZX model but mine does not have foam. Like the other said, it's just a shelf and wide open underneath. If i don't forget, i'll take pics and post. Just installed a charger plug there the other night.

See this is what I'm talking about when I say the price of the Boats go up and they just keep taking stuff out, I really think the best boat's lay outs for skeeter was from 1999 - 2002 and then they just started to take things away and riase the price But anyways here is what you asked for

My 2000 202ZX has it

The Lid is 22 1/8" Long x 7 1/4" Wide

Inside Tray is 20 1/8" Long x 5 1/8" Wide X 10" Deep

The 1997 Skeeter zx's had those as well. Both the Single like my brothers and My DC ZX185c has a nice storage area next to the passanger seat.
Nice little area to throw the sunblock, pliers, etc in.
Not sure why they would have discontinued that as an option.

BJ, I'm with you on this and then they take the storage space out from under the seats, on my boat I have a cooler under the passager seat and thats were I keep all my cleaning stuff for the boat, and under the driver seat is were I have a spare prop and tools and extra rope and my beef jerky and stuff. Now on the new boats all thats gone

To me its like taking 3-4 cubic ft of storage away, and I need more not less. Each Year they take more away but the price goes UP. I was thinking about a new 1 and the More I look at them and then Look at mine it SAD and I cann't see Paying for a New one

What I would like to know is if Skeeter would let you order a older style boat and make it for you new and Put it toghter the Same as when it was made in like 2000

But I still Love the Skeeter's

I'm going to look into this modification when I get back out to my lake home and can see what i'm dealing with. Hopefully it's not too big on a deal, but it will require some jigsaw work i'm sure. We'll need to find a drop in storage container first...

I would think you could get 1 from skeeter or there suppler just say you need it for a 1999 - 2002 ZX because my 1999 had this also. also the way its setup is there is just a hole cut and the container just seats on the boat and screws in with 6 screws

If you want me to take my container out and take a few pic let me know

The more pics the better! also, can you take some pics of the hinge location and what the storage area looks like with the pan removed? This will help us know how much to cut out.

My 99 had this storage but my 05 does not. I have looked into this and I feel it can be done like you say with a bit of jigsaw work. I removed the pannel in the 05 and no foam just dead space. There is a person that has a web site that handles Skeeter parts that may help us and I'll find his web and post it.

I posted today but don't know where it went. Anyway, here a few pics from my SX190. I'm like the others, they could do a little bit better on spaces. Like mine where the cooler is on the front deck, they could move that to the floor or under seat and use the original location for regular storage.

My 96 zx has a storage area there with a locking door in that same place..Might be that is it a older model so but I dont see why ya cant make it a storage
