    Skeeter pump-out weak? cure

I've found the perfect cure for the weak livewell pump-outs. The previous owner of my house left a bucket of these little plastic plugs. (I think they are the plugs found in the ends of bicycle handlebars, because he repaired bicycles) At any rate, they fit perfectly in the existing pump-out holes. I drilled the hole that is already in the plug to make it a little larger and now my pump out water shoots up around a foot. The other cool thing is you can find them to match the color of your boat. Not sure how to post the pics of the install, if someone wants to see, I'll send them in an e-mail.

Guess I'm the only one with this problem
It's only right considering all the other issues I've had with this new boat

I would think there are only two cures for a weak pump out stream. 1. install a more powerful gal/min pump or decrease the size of the hole you are pumping water through. Any time you force water through a smaller opening the speed increases skeeterbit

Right, Doesn't pump out faster, just increases pressure.

By reducing the the opening it builds more pressure and shoots the water higher . I have done the same but using a piece of plastic tubing that fits snuggly in the hole and it reduces the hole size and creates a higher stream of water. All you need is about a 1" piece of 1/2" ID x 3/4" OD tube per side. Just tap it in lightly and there you go. You can get it at any farm & home, auto parts, or building center.

As neat as that looks. If you stop and think about it? You are restricking the flow of the pump that is built for a 3/4 opening. There for the pump has to work harder thus redusing the life of the pump and also takes longer to drain the livewell from a redused hole. But hey what do I know?

That's a good point, but the only time I use the pumpouts, is to get enough water in a bag to weigh fish.
