    new user 175 skeeter

hello there, im new to the forum, i recently purchased an old 1992 skeeter bass boat.. its in imaculant condition, with a 175 evinrude intruder, im re-painting the engine and putting new decals on the hood, the motors paint and decals show alittle wear obviously.. and also everywhere else on the boat is going to recieve fresh decals.. i re-carpeted the entire deck of the boat, and ive gone over all the pumps and electronics and have found out my trolling motor is shot, its an older evinrude im guessing purchased with the boat when bought, i dont want to break the bank buying one, but im really looking for something used thats going to get the job done well i fish the chesapeake bay for stripers and largemouth, and any opinions about the boat, or somewhere i can find a cheap but good trolling motor would be so much appreciated, thanks for your time..

Try looking below in the for sale area under trolling motors. There is always some good deals to be had there. Congrats on the new rig.

I have an 86 175 and my motor went out also. My advice to you is to buy the biggest thrust motor you can afford. When it comes to a trolling motor there is no reason to cheap it because besides the big motor it is probably the most essential part of a bass boat. Windy days are no fun with an inferior trolling motor trust me I used to have one. On my boat I have a Minn Kota Maxxum 24 volt with 84 pounds of thrust and I am extremely happy with it. I might get burned at the stake by a few but in my opinion STAY AWAY FROM MOTOR GUIDE. It is what I had before and it turned to junk. Good luck with whatever you decide on.
