Ok Skeeter folks. Now have a Stratos. Was at the boat show yesterday. I like the deck layout and fishability of the Skeeter. What kind of rough water ride does the 18-20 boats have. The "V" in the stern does not look very deep?

i have owned HYDRA-SPORTS,GAMBLER,AND TRITON,in my opinion my ZX250,is the best riding boat i have ever been in
You would never beleive the ride my SX176 has in rough water. Best Ive owned and Ive had a 19' NorrisCraft, 18' Hydra-Sports, and 16' Tracker boats.

When you drive a SKEETER the V at the stern never touches the water anyway.
William, which model Stratos are you currently running? Knowing will help me explain the differences in ride. Generally speaking, the sharp v of a Stratos allows it to slice through waves better than most boats on the market. Unfortunately it comes at the price of getting a wet ride, especially when sideways to the wind. It also allows the hull to sink deeper in the water at rest, not allowing the Stratos to go as shallow as a flatter bottom. The Skeeter (especially newer models) still slice waves quite well, but direct the spray away down and away. This makes a little more "noise" which creates an initial impression that the ride may be slightly more rough, but in actuality the ride is just as soft, but different. Tough to explain. With the premium seats in the iClass and ZX models, the ride is noticeably softer in the Skeeter.
I run mine in very rough water on the Columbia River up to 50 miles one-way, and I love the ride, and I love staying dry. Hope this helps.

Marc makes a good point, try to compare the same size boat.
I drove a Stratos 201 last year and was amazed at how easy it was to drive, just like the Skeeters. If you get the chance to try a Skeeter don't pass it by, hop in....you'll love it. Both are great boats though.
We are a dealer for 2 of the brands you asked about, Triton and Skeeter. I have a lot of seat time in both boats. The differences are as follows.
1. Triton, faster.
2. Skeeter, easier to drive in the beginning, but they are the same once you get some seat time in the Triton. It's geared more towards a performance boat and takes a little practice.
3. Skeeter, better hole shot
4. Deck space, same
5. Resale, depends on market.
6. Fit and Finish, Skeeter by a small margin
7. Tournament incentives, Skeeter
8. Ability to catch fish, same.

I've had 2 Stratos boats, a 278 and a 201 Pro and I think both of the Skeeters I have had( Zx195c and Zx225) have been better riding boats and better in the fit and finish department. One thing I always say is that Skeeter makes a very fishable boat and does a good job of combining fishability and performance. The Sketter will fish skinnier water as well. Honestly I think the layout on most Skeeter boats is great. I have a very short list of boats I'll run and I choose Skeeter. None of this is knock on Stratos at all. They are good boats but coming from a guy that fishes and spends more than 150-200 days per year on the water the Skeeter is the choice for me.
