Steam cleaning carpet

I have a ZX 250 and was thinking about steam cleaning my carpet but someone mentioned on another post that it could weaken the glue that holds it down. Anyone know if this is true or not? Has anyone done this before and if so what were your results?

I don't know but if it were me I'd try it without the harsh chemicals and soap, just to see how well it came out.

I run a 94 ZX175. I used a carpet shampooer (looks like an upright vacuum, no heat like a steam cleaner). I followed the directions for the shampoo/ warm tap water combination. I've done it 3 times and it has made a world of difference. The used water was filthy so much dirt came out. The carpets are fluffy and soft again.

I wouldnt put heat on it either,i think it could weaken the glue.

I had a 210 Procraft that I had steamcleaned a couple of times and never had a problem with the carpet loosing adhesion.
