How deep can holes be for installing HotFoot on a 2003 ZX225

I'm scared to drill into the floor of my boat, the first owner had hotfoot installed but they never installed any screws to hold the back down, just the front set of screws. I can now tell that the hotfoot mount is getting loose. How much depth do I have to remount new holes?

That is a good question, can you remove one of the front screws to compare ? I am in need of moving mine closer to me but have heard you need to be careful relocating it. think you are in a safer spot.

I believe the screws that came with mine are 3/4" stainless and are a #14.

Sounds like the right size, my concern is moving mine back towards me. was thinking I will need to move it towards me around 6 inches or so. would it help you guys if I took a pic of it and posted it to show you where it is currently? if the holes are the same distance apart I was thinking could move it the length of the unit and only have to drill 2 new holes for the side closest to me. sorry, not trying to hijack , just get some info.

If you are moving it maybe you want to put in the adjustable slide plate?

Funny you mention that, saw the adjustable plate and thought, what a great idea. on the down side I have been spending a lot just to get the ship back on the water. I can use the hot foot as is but I have to reach to get wot. I also want to hook up a blinker trim. guess if I have to I can wait on the adjustable plate as the blinker trim will be a nice safety addition. thanks for the heads up.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, GO TO A DEALER

Do yourself a favor and take your boat to a dealer and have it installed. I see 20-25 horror stories each year from hot foots, bimini tops, etc. that customers tried to install themselves. I can't imagine why not to pay $80-120 to have a dealer do it and sleep better knowing you have no chance of messing it up.

Just duct tape it to the carpet and put a sand bag across the back holes. Should be good for a bit anyway.
