    Livewell valve broken or detached...

One of the livewell knobs at the console is obviously not connected to anything anymore. It is extremely easy to turn and the water runs out when you run down the lake. Thought I saw a post on this weeks back- like there is a small black plastic piece that holds the cable to the knob or something like that. Any body help me out here? BTW- this is on a 06 ZX225.

I would call the dealer where you bought it and have them fix it!!!!

I know on my boat the knobs are at my right foot. Therefore i could lay down on the floor and look back towards the back and see the back of them. The wire(s) runs to the valve that is located in the bilge area which controls the opening and closing of it. So it could be broken at the hand switch or at the valve.

The actuator cable has a "Z" bend in it at the end where it passes through a small hole in the lever that's attached to the knob. It is the same thing back at the valve itself. Could be a lever broke, could be that the "Z" bend just worked its way throught the hole in the lever. You should be able to look around behind the panel to see the back side of the knobs. If the problem is not there then you'll have to look back at the valves which will likely require you to remove the plate holding your oil tank and batteries. It's pretty easy stuff, really.

Actually this is a very common problem and is covered as a warranty repair. The Flowrite Cable is breaking at the black plastic threaded portion because the plastic is too soft. If any binding occurs, the threading portion shears off, and the cable will not operate. For now, take the two screws off the flowrite knob cover, and you will find the black plastic cable sheath broken...you can manually pull the wire through the cable sheath so that at least you can close your valve and keep water in your well. Do this until your dealer can mail you a new cable sheath, or else until you can take it in for warranty repair.

Once you manually close the valve, the knob will work once to open the valve to drain the livewell, but you will have to unscrew and manually close it once again before you use it the next time.

Hope this makes sense...I am sleep deprived after a long return flight from Malta.

Thanks Marc- I thought there was a warranty issue with this problem. Now we know!!
