    Remembering Bill Dee (SOB Spinnerbaits)

Over the years, I had developed a relationship with Bill. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting him face to face, we were always in communication about lures and fishing. After 9-11, I was shipped out to the middle east for a few years. Bill contacted my wife stateside for a mailing address. He found out through my wife that I was the Executive Officer (XO) of a ship stationed in Bahrain. He sent me a package of custom made lures including the one below. I look at that lure nearly everyday and I think about Bill. I miss talking to him on the phone.

Yep if you called in an order you needed to set aside some extra time

I didn't know he passed. When did this occur? Is his company still in operation or has it closed doors?

It's been a few years since we lost Bill, I fished with him for years in the Lunker Bass Club in Houston, we used to go visit him on the way from east Texas to west Texas when we would go fish Choke Canyon or Falcon lake. I see some new SOB product around, not sure if the family took over the business or if they sold it. Here's one for you Mr. Bill

I didn't know Bill, but I was turned on to the spinnerbaits while he and his family were still making them. SOB now owned by Ryan Coleman of Spotsticker baits, and are still great spinnerbaits.

He was a good guy for sure. Remember having a order get a little messed up and him calling me while I was out fishing to fix it. Ended up talking to him for 20 minutes or so.

Really nice guy. I remember every time I would order some spinnerbaits from him we would end up talking for at least a half hour. Sure hate to hear of his passing away.

When I placed my orders with Bill we ended up talking about rods, hot rods that is.
He was working on a coupe but I don't know if it was ever finished.
