    NEED HELP WITH A 1993 JOHNSON 175!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey guys I need some help PLEASE! I just bought a 1993 Johnson FastStrike 175 from a local dealer. #J175GLETG. The motor starts and idles just like a brand new one. I have it on a 1990 Ranger 482V with a 6" jack plat, and a 23P shooter 4 blade prop. I can run the motor and it will run great untill it warms up, when you run it for a while and run at WOT it will drop 500 to 1000 rpm and then pick right back up, run a little ways and do it again. It just keeps doing it. The motor will rev up to 6000 rpm, is that too many, do I need a bigger prop? The motor has a 30 day warranty. The dealer put a new power pack on it and that didnt help, then he put on a new optical sensor and that didnt help. He keeps telling me he cant get it to do anything in the shop in the tank, but every time I go to the lake it does it. Does anyone know what might be wrong? Please help.

PRIMING BULB? My father had a Johson 33hp way back that was cutting out like that and then would go like the dickens and repeat the cutout. Ended up being his primer bulb was collapsing and starving the engine of fuel, after it cut out the ball would release due to decreased suction and the cycle would restart. It's only $10 to find out.

According to my Clymer's, your full throtle RPM's should be 4750-5750 (4500-5500 if it's the 60º model).

I have the same motor and 5500 rpm is max. Might be overheating a little running it a 6000. Sounds like you need a different prop.

The next time it cuts out push in on the choke, if it picks up look for fuel restriction, if it dosen't look for electrical. Keep taking it back for 30 days, should have all new electrical by then... The Renegade 23 4 blade would be a better suited prop for that engine I think.
