What model boat/engine? Have a jack-plate!?
Having some info may help!

On the flat spot at the back above the livewell intakes and the plug have installed bunches of them there.
Less likely to knock it off dragging over a stump if you mount it to the jack plate- lots of pictures in this forum and in the Lowrance section of the electronics forum on how to do. Also, I would rather drill a hole in an aluminum jackplate than into my hull IMO.

On the underside of the step at the back edge. Hard to get a stump between the jackplate & the hull here at Bull and Norfork.

Try it on Toledo Bend, Fork or Rayburn. Easy to do when you are constantly idling, gliding and sliding through stumpfields to get to the fish. Average time before an externally mounted skimmer is 1/2 a day on Toledo Bend from personal experience and I can just imagine what it sounds like when you drag that LSS-1 across a hard stump as you idle through the wood. No stumps, no problem except I would still much rather drill a hole in the jack plate than to screw or drill the hull, stumps or no stumps. JMO

The one on my boat is on the step and has the TSS shield on it. I get to fish the stumpy waters here in Arkansas including the Arkansas River lots and lots. No problems with it so far and yes Sir the boat has slid over a stump or two..........................RR
