    Looking at a used Ranger 519 2005 with 200HPDI

Looking at buying a used ranger 519 SVX in excelent shape.
Anyone have any feedback or thoughts on this model
How does it ride and fish
    Any downsides
Moving from a xpress X-19 to a fiberglass and like the layout of this model

Cant go wrong with that boat if the price is right jump on it. Make sure compression check, check all electrical, and take it for a test ride. Good Luck Ron.

The 519 is one fine rig especially on small lakes and rivers where you don't need a big rig but if you are going to be using it on the big waters like Ky Lake where it gets upside down then you will wish u had a bigger boat. If u can find a nice used 520 u would be much better off especially on the bigger waters. Now don't take me wrong i am not knocking the 519 just saying the way i see it.

in your area like mine the 518/519 is a great boat. It is the perfect size to fish the medium sized lakes with ease but big enough to fish Erie if you fish smart not like a fool

I have the 04 519VX, and love the boat. This is my third Ranger, and I plan on keeping this one for a while. The ride is as good as any 19footer, and better than most 20+ boats. I had a 02 520VX, and if you are planning on fishing Erie or some huge body of water, then I would look for a bigger boat. I would take my 519 on any body of water with no fear at all. I fished a tournament here in NC this past Saturday with sustained 25-30 mph winds, and gust of 40+. 3-4 foot rollers and never once felt uneasy. A good friend of mine runs a Z20 and he said he was terrified a couple of times out there.
Pimpin' ain't easy, but it's necessary.

I had a 2005 519vx. Loved the stability, fishability and layout. I like its fishability better than my new Z519. Its low profile does not catch wind. Very stable and tracks well with TM.

It was not fast (upper 60's). Rough water ride was very average for a 19' boat. If you fish big water frequently, it may not be the boat you want.

    I would buy one again

I have an 07 519 with a 200 HPDI and it is a good boat. I don't think the rough water ride is as good as my 461 was but a great fishing platform for sure. Mine is a bit on the sluggish side with a 101 Minn Kota with 4 AMGs but it will run in the mid 60s on a good day. Great fishing boat!

I also ran a 461vs and would agree that its rough water ride is better than the 519vx. The wide deck/low freeboard of the 519vx really flattens out the hull quickly.

I still liked the 519vx better that the 461vs. Both were great boats.

    Re: Looking at a used Ranger 519 2005 with 200HPDI (jacer155)

    Thanks Guys

Sounds like its a great boat with the only issue being a rough ride in heavy chop or waves.

The boat seems to have the best layout of any for its size and like having a Cooler / Step to keep the buds in the air conditioning and also making it easier to move thruout the boat.

like i indicated above, i am comming from a aluminum boat and one of the biggest things i was looking for was less blowing around and a more stable fishing platform.

    appreciate everyones feedback

    Re: Looking at a used Ranger 519 2005 with 200HPDI (COMANCHE 22)

Purchased a 519vx 200HPDI in May 2005. I have fished it on Rivers, every size lake including Lake Amistad which is no slouch when the wind blows. The worst I've had my Ranger in was 40+ mph with swells 5 to 6 feet. Had no choice so I rode it out, and the 19'er handled it and got me to the ramp safe.

From many hours on the water, it is just a phenomenal rig with a great platform. From everything I've seen there is only one boat I would rather have and that would be Ranger Z520 this year. I've researched every brand and size in the Bass boat world and those 2 make it for me, but make up your own mind. The price difference is tremendous from a used 519vx to a Z520.

Pick your own prize, but you won't go wrong with the 519, just don't expect high speed much over mid-60's. But then, I haven't caught a Bass at that speed yet!!!
