I have a 2009 Ranger 198vx with an Etec 200 hp. My questions is, I am adding a 8" jackplate, the plastic cap on the transom was cut-away for the engine when mounted at factory, how do I get a new one and does anyone know approx. cost?

Give Ranger parts a call. They have them in stock..................RR![]()

Called them waiting response back. Thanks Roger.![]()
I just ordered one through my local Ranger rep. It's around $50.00
I did the same thing.... I added a jackplate to my 198 and I didn't like it not being right back there with the cut outs too big for the jackplate....
Did they finally get these in stock??? I put a new jackplate on my boat, and wanted to replace the transom cap, but they were out of stock, no expected date, and had been out of stock for 6 months.
Chris
I hope they have them in stock. I will find out for sure tomorrow. The only question I have now is whether or not the cables and hydraulic steering lines are long enough. I didn't think about that when I bought the Jackplate.
I checked today, they are still out of stock, no date on when they will have them.
What is a transom cap?

Chris - What model Ranger are you looking a cap for? I just called Al at Collins in Smithfield (since I lived about a mile from there and pass it at ;east twice each day) and he ordered me one and it came in within a week.... Mine was for a 198.
I have a 521, which uses the same cap.... I guess I need to call them, because I have spoken to ranger parts about 10 times and they say they are on backorder.
I ordered one yesterday from Ranger and they said they had 4 in stock.
could you please let me know what the part number is? They told me the part # was 7700311
Thanks
Chris

Yes your cables are plenty long, no problems there.
What is a transom cap? I'm getting ready to remove my slidemaster and install a new bobs hydraulic. Is this something I will need to replace when installing bobs jack plate?
