    225 SHO or Merc 225 XS on a 519 or 119?

Im wondering what numbers are better. Is there anyone who has bought the 119 and wished they had purchased the 519? Is there a difference in the hull? Is the 519 worth the extra money? Thanks, G

The Z519 and Z119 are the same hulls, the difference is in bells and whistles (options)

Does anyone know the actual weight difference? How much of a performance gain does the 119 have? Could someone chime in with there best numbers with a 225 SHO?

I have a 519 and I have been looking at a Basscat Pantera IV but I havent seen any difference in performance than I get with mine. Now Im back on the Ranger hunt yet again.

They are the same hulls Sir as mentioned by Rodney above. The only difference between the Z519 and Z119 are add on's (bells and whistles). Don't know what you are asking on performance gain that the 119 has..................over what?? I can't speak on the 119 or the SHO, but yesterday I ran my Z519 to 72.3 gps with myself and partner full tx. loaded and ready for bear. Might could have tweaked a tad more , but water got rough. By myself I can consistantly run 74ish gps with the 225 ProXS turning a BB 25" Tempest Plus with a pad to center shaft dead on at 3.25". **Note** this boat and engine did not run this well when first delivered, but was made to get these numbers with a little $$ and time. I often feel that Ranger gets kicked too often for their speeds..............they aren't fast compared to the go fast boats, but their speeds ain't too bad either. I laugh every once in a while at fella's that have (susposed) hotrod boats and I look behind to see them...............................RR

I am right there with u Rog, i pulled up in one of the so called afst boats (no names) with a 250 Mercury on its back last year in my buddis Z520 and 250 Merc and actually went by him pretty quick, i looked over and he looked like he was trying to ride a fighting bull he was fighting that steering wheel so hard, i just let go of my steering wheel with him looking over at me and raised my hands then went on

I don't recomend any one doing that but it just made a statement in two ways by me doing that. After the tourny the guy came by and shaked my hand and we had a long chat

The 519 - 119 often gets a bad rep on here but truly is a great boat. Fishes great and drives like a sports car. I can't speak to the SHO but the 225 Pro XS is awesome on this hull.

My weight question was directed at the difference in options you mentioned. I am guessing with more options on the 519 there would be added weight. My question is how much more than the 119 and whether it would amount to any noticeable speed difference. Does anyone know what kind of weight a second console adds? Thank you guys for your time.

I am not sure what the warranty difference is between the two motors these days. Merc I believe was at a 3+2 promotion and Yamaha at 3+3 (not 100% sure on that). But that would influence me. The cost difference (+$1500 for the SHO) is an issue but I would still opt for it but that's just me. I hate the constant oil additions, etc.

I believe you're guessing wrong, as the options are not the kinds of things that add more than a few ounces to a pound or two (if at all). I got 3/4 of the "missing" options on my 119 and saved at least 6k from the 519 price. Things like stainless latches instead of composite don't add much weight. A completely stripped 119 might go .5 mph faster, but there's at least that much difference in individual engines, props, and hulls.

The biggest difference in weight between a 119 and a Z519 will be felt in your checkbook!
I'd get the motor with a proven track record (the black one).

I wasnt sure if there was any difference with the options and weights so thanks for clearing it up. I still would like to know what numbers are being had from a 225 SHO if someone has some to compare. Thanks

One thing the Z100 series boats don't come with is the trailer step. Make sure you add that as an option. You will be glad you did.

Agreed that the trailer step is worth it's weight in greenbacks. I typically see them on 519s at the dealers and not on 119s (though I have one). However, I think this is a dealer choice and not an automatic from the factory on either model.

I was pleased to see last time I checked on Ranger Rodney's site that they stock some 119s with Z pak and other factory options, not just bare bones. This boat even dressed up still hits a price point that is way more attractive than 50-60k. I got 7 options when I ordered mine, and those options all together didn't cost $3k, but made a world of difference in the operation of the rig.
