    I drove them both!!!!

Im hoping to get a new or new to me boat this year. Ive owned rangers since I started fishing. I love my 520 but have always been open minded to other boats and brands. I really like the look of the phoenix boat and like all the hype i was hearing so I finally managed to go drive both. I liked all of the features that phoenix comes standard with but Ive decided after driving both I will be sticking with a z520 when I do make a purchase. The z520 is a dang fine boat and I couldnt find 1 negative thing to say about it. (except price which wasnt THAT much more than the phoenix) I will probably try to find a demo or a 1 to 2 yr old used boat when im ready. If any of you guys are considering a z520, go ride in 1 before you buy anything. I think youll like it.

If I was going to get me another Z boat, I'd buy a Z521, not that much price difference but there's a big difference in storage in the boat and how it's layed out.

Ive been considering the 521 as well but I really need the shorter boat for maneuvering in tight places where I mostly fish. It will probably come down to the best deal that I find when the time comes. Ranger Rodney has a demo on here for sale that I sit and stare at for hours. Just not the right time and it doesnt have a pro xs on the back neither.

Well good luck! Again look at used prices and compare used boats a 2008 z520 goes for 38 a 2011 721 goes for 44 the 721 in 5 years the 721 will be worth 30

That sound about right for new based on options. But in five years that boat will be worth??? We beat on one up on lake Ontario it rode great in five ft rollers with some 8 s mixed in.

    Re: (phil2)

Well that was kind of why i was considering the 721. I could buy a 2 to 3 year old 721 for 30 to 33 k. Im guessing they will be in the mid 20's after 5yrs?

there's only a minor difference between the Z520 & Z521 and that being the Z520 is 6" shorter and 75 lbs. lighter, then the Z521.

I agree, 6 inches will not make any difference in close places unless it's in a garage

Re: I drove them both!!!! (bigredglass)

That's what it takes; driving them both. I just sold my 2010 Phoenix 721/SHO and am currently boat shopping for my next rig and am not committed to anything yet due to pricing as I like both models you tested also (and the z521 & Phoenix 921 for that matter).

Doing exactly what you did by riding/driving both is the only way to figure out what's right for you. Congrats on being able to do that.

Re: I drove them both!!!! (lknbassman)

Good luck with your decision chuck. I hope you get another one soon. I think I may buy a nice like new, used boat. If money was plentiful Id order a new 1 exactly like I want but with a wife in college and a 7 month old baby, that wont be happening just yet. Let us know what you buy.

Every since i hit the big old 60 my fingers work backwards some times should be 250, the 25 is the trolling motor

Besides i sold that boat yesterday, Mr Lowrance will love that rig
