I can't leave anything stock, I can't leave well enough alone.
I need to customize everything. I think I can improve others
    designs, sometimes.

Dont worry about it. Most worthless gauge on a boat. Go by gps speed only. My speedo only works half the time and when it does read it says my ranger does 80 mph lol

................actually mine does; really rare feat I know, but mine throughout the entire range is usually pretty much spot on with the HDS units......................go figure. ...........................RR

That would be a NO. Bought mine less than a year old and it never worked. Clock doesn't work either. Two gauges I don't look at anyway

Nope- Took mine out and replaced it with a flasher. I like the old school flashers at times and it was a perfect fit.

In my experience, they're only "accurate" up to 40mph. The only gauges I pay attention to are rpm, water psi, & trim while running.

    Re: (JP198)

I wish ranger offered this as an option and not required equiptment. I am a bit anal on things working on my boat and this thing works for an outting or two and then it is plugged with wood....

Bugs the snot out of me to no end that I can't keep it working!
Oh, to answer the question...NO it does not work

Yes, for thirty four years. I replaced the pitot five yeras ago. It reads about 2-3 miles per hour SLOW.

Mine works ('98) as long as the wood and grass is removed from the pitot on the lower unit.
    Inaccurate but it works.

Mine works! Only because I replaced it with the SmartCraft digital signal/analog gauge that takes a feed from my HB GPS output.

Same here. Two motors and my speedo has always worked within 1 or 2 mph of GPS.

Mine too Roger....imagine that. I have the old Yamaha digital "all in one" guage (21 years old) and the speedo is accurate within 1-2 mph throughout the entire range. I don't pay much attention to it though...I'm more worried about my RPM's.
